Who is the eMarketing Strategist?
Elgé (sounds like "L.J.") came to be an
eMarketing consultant via a rather circuitous route. She was
born and raised in the California Bay Area and witnessed the
High Tech boom and internet bubble first hand. Prior to being
an eMarketing Strategist, she worked as a virtual assistant,
executive assistant in high tech and a counselor in mental
health organizations.
Elgé started her own business as a virtual assistant
in 2001. She quickly realized that what her clients needed
most was help marketing their business via the internet. She
then taught herself HTML, how to design a website that ranks
well in the search engines, how to set up shopping carts,
the ins and outs of newsletters and auto responders, Google
and Yahoo pay-per-click, and copywriting for websites and
newsletters.
Since eMarketing is a rapidly evolving field, Elgé
spends hours every week educating herself on the changes in
marketing a service based business via the internet. Elgé
has provided eMarketing consulting to service professionals
including business coaches, lawyers, public relations executives,
entertainers, and writers.
Elgé understands how challenging it is to transition
to doing business via the internet. Despite being the offspring
of old school computer geeks, she managed to avoid learning
how to use a computer until 1995. As she became more comfortable
with computers and how they work, she developed the ability
to translate that information into plain English for the rest
of us.
While helping her clients build their businesses, she ran
into a lot of confusion and mis-information about building
a business via the internet. She noticed that there wasn’t
one place for consultants and service professionals to turn
to for reliable information on marketing a service based business
via the internet. The needs of her clients motivated her to
provide help and guidance in the “wild west” atmosphere
of online business. As a result, Elgé has made it her
mission to build businesses via internet in the most efficient
way possible.
While working in the high tech industry, Elgé worked
with some of the most successful entrepreneurs and global
companies of the last 50 years. Previous employers include
Interval Research, an R&D think tank funded by Paul Allen
(co-founder of Microsoft), Philips Electric, and a startup
later purchased by Microsoft. Along the way, she learned a
lot about what to do and what NOT to do to create a successful
business.
Prior to her experience in high tech, Elgé completed
master’s level coursework in clinical psychology and
education. She’s counseled hyperactive kids, victims
of domestic violence and suicidal teens. She learned how to
accommodate different learning styles and how to successfully
navigate a wide variety of stressful situations. These experiences
instilled in her a deep commitment to making the world a more
positive place to live and work.
It’s not what you know, it’s
who you know.
Throughout this site you will see reference to “we.”
It is not possible to be an expert in everything so Elgé
brings in specialists when it becomes apparent that their
expertise is needed. You will find their contact information
on the eMarketing Resources Page.
She is always looking to make new connections with people
and companies with complimentary skills and client bases.
If you or someone you know, is looking to create strategic
alliances, give her a call or send her an email.
